Warkworth Castle, Warkworth, Northumberland.
Warkworth Castle in it's hilltop position dominates the village from every approach by road or river.
It's history dates from Saxon times but it has been in various states of ruin since the 17th century. However the Keep was restored in the 19th century. The opening scene of Shakespeare's play "Henry IV" was set in Warkworth Castle.
The castle is managed by English Heritage and is open to visitors.
