Photos of Aydon Castle, Northumberland.
Aydon Castle is close to Corbridge.
It is a fortified manor house, which sits on the side of a steep ravine, and dates from the 13th century. It was burnt by the Scots in 1315.
In the 18th century it was turned into a farm house and remained in use until the 1960's. It is now managed by English Heritage and open to the public.
