Photos of Twizel Castle, Northumberland. The ruins that are located above the River Till at Twizel are not the original castle, which was situated further along the River near Twizel Bridge. The original castle was destroyed in wars during the reign of King James iv of Scotland who was killed at the nearby Battle of Flodden in 1513. These ruins are of a house that was built in the 18th century, but never occupied. A plaque on the wall proclaims that it was built in 1312, but probably refers to the earlier building around which the current structure was built.
