Hi, I was born in Hexham, and spent most of the sticky parts
of WWII at Houxty, just up the Bellingham road from Wark. I started
school at Wark School (the old stone one by the Tyne).
My Grandfather ran a market garden and orchid hybridizing business
at Houxty (The garden part being called Houxty Gardens), an Uncle
of mine ran Tyne Green Nurseries in Hexham.
I had a Great Uncle who worked at Robbs from the horse and buggy
days until into his '90's. Another Uncle worked in Martins Bank
in Bellingham. I have lived in California since the '60's.
I think I was sent over to refute the idea that there was a brain
drain (as it was called then).
I love where I live now, and I loved my childhood up the North
Tyne Valley.
All the best

I was originally born in Ashington, Northumberland
but moved away when I was five. I love the place and try to get
back as often as possible. My favourite places to visit are Ingram
valley, Druridge Bay, Dunstanburgh Castle and any of the hills in
the Cheviots. For anyone who hasnt been here before I totally recommend
it, dont be put off by the local scallies.

We spent a most memorable couple of days at Seahouses
during a motoring trip around the UK a few years ago. Your excellent
website revived those memories of the Bamburgh/Seahouses coast and
the wonderfully hospitable people who live and work in the area.
Our thanks to you all.

county of Northumberland. It has inspired me to travel around
this beautiful county and explore the many smalll villages and
the relentless scenery.
After looking at this site I will never be able to take my beautiful

Northumberland is one of the most beautiful (and friendliest)
places in all of England.
When I think of a place I'd rather be it is always Northumberland.

Great to stumble on to your page and enjoy the places where my
ancestors lived and died. Hope to come to this area in 05 with
the Ogle Association.
We are all related to Sir Robert Ogle buried at Hexam Cemetary.
Your pictures come to us clear and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
