St. Giles Church, Netherwitton, Northumberland.Tucked away in a secluded location, St. Giles Church was probably consecrated in the 15th century. Oliver Cromwells soldiers camped there in August 1651 after being victorius over the Scots at the Battle of Dunbar the previous year. There is a life-size effigy of a lady inside the church which has a fashionable dress and lovely smile. © Copyright - All photos are subject to copyright and may not be reproduced in any format or displayed on any website without prior written permission.
