Churches in Carrshield, Northumberland.

Whiteley Shield Methodist Chapel.

This small roadside Methodist Chapel is tucked away in the upper valley of the River West Allen. It was built in 1857 according to an engraved stone above the entrance door.

Like many churches and chapels in the Allendale area it would have served the local lead mining communities and is still in regular use, unlike some that have been converted into homes.
